2003 Detroit Auto Show - Dodge Avenger
Dodge Avenger

This four-door hatchback could be seen as an SUV-ized sedan, with its high ground clearance, tall body, large wheels, and four-wheel drive, but Chrysler design chief Trevor Creed says European rally coupes were the influence. He also characterizes the concept as "a suggestion as to what one could do in the D segment." Compared to Dodge's current D segment car, the Stratus, the Avenger is four inches shorter but rides on a five-inch-longer wheelbase. It's also nearly nine inches higher. The powertrain consists of a transverse-mounted 3.5-liter V-6 and an automatic transmission controlled by dash-mounted pushbuttons and paddle shifts.
