Chevrolet Colorado	Think of the Colorado as the Silverado's baby brother: It's tough, spacious, and a far cry from the old S-10 that once set standards in the compact-truck class. The Colorado hopes to offer customizability on par with its larger brethren. It will appear in nine guises, with three suspensions (standard, sport, and off-road), three cab styles (crew, extended, and regular), and rear- or all-wheel drive. A ladder-frame truck, the Colorado promises abundant ruggedness. But it doesn't sacrifice refinement on the altar of Like A Rock. The Colorado will come with four- and five-cylinder versions of GM's supersmooth Vortec in-line family, the six-cylinder version of which first appeared in the corporation's mid-size SUVs. The Vortec 3500 I-5 makes 220 hp and 225 lb-ft of torque, while the Vortec 2800 I-4 produces 175 hp and 185 lb-ft of torque. The Colorado hits showrooms in late 2003.
