2003 Detroit Auto Show - Ford Mustang
Ford Mustang GT concept

Ford is giving a clear preview of the upcoming 2005 Mustang with two lightly disguised concepts: the Mustang GT coupe at Detroit and convertible at Los Angeles (see Automobile Magazine's February issue for a full story on the convertible). Both cars use a supercharged, 390-hp, 4.6-liter V-8. In the coupe, it's mated to a 6-speed stick (the convertible gets a 5-speed automatic). Like the upcoming production car, the concept 'Stang rides on a modified DEW98 (Thunderbird, Lincoln LS) platform. Inside and out, the design draws from the Mustangs of the late '60s. The coupe's glass roof and two-place interior are obviously for show, but otherwise this, Mustang fans, is what you'll see when the new car arrives in late 2004.
